MYSPACE BULLETIN POST
Date: Aug 25, 2008 12:40 AM Subject: I got a blogg... at a swedish newpaper... Body: Some pics, some videos (one from the shooting of my next vid).
It started in swedish... but erhm... you know... I know better so all new post are in english.
Ok, let me start out by thanking Alexander and Olof from ExtensiveMusic Sweden. And how can I not thank Jonas, for it not for his music we would not have this website!
Yesterday I was given the amazing opportunity of getting to not only go see Basshunter live at Beatstock2008 in Holmdel, NJ, but to also get a chance to hang out with him for the day.
I have to say that it's been a while since I have seen such a down-to-earth artist in a position such as Jonas'. To say you've been #1 in multiple countries and still joke around about everything is amazing.
So I started my day at about ten am. Left my house in Maryland by 11. Had to stop by the bank because there are a billion tolls on the way to New Jersey. First ATM was broken so drove across town to the other bank. Got my money and away I went. I had a four and a half hour drive ahead of me. The PNC Bank Arts Arena parking lots were set to open at 3 so I was going to get there not too long after they opened.
After figuring out how to get to the venue solely on my own, mapquest gave the worst directions ever, I showed up a few minutes after four. Cops were patrolling the parking lots kicking people out of the cars and making them go inside. As I made my way towards the gates Olof, Jonas' manager, gave me a ring to find out where I was. I met Olof by the VIP enterance and he and a female security guard took me back on a golf cart. (Side note, I am deathly afraid of golf carts!)
We arrived backstage, thankfully in one piece!, and met up with Jonas. I wasn't too sure what to expect to be honest. All of you who have met him have all said he's the nicest guy in the world. No one told me he's super tall (and hotter in person, I think it's those eyes)! We stood around for a bit getting to know each other. I've personally never ran a fan site, and to be honest I feel a bit weird doing it since most of my friends are musicians but I hated looking in a million different places for information. Jonas is a complete sweetheart though. He cracks jokes like there's no tomorrow.
We went up to where all the drivers were and he grabbed me a seat. We sat down with his laptop and he started showing me some hysterical old photos. It's amazing how much he's grown up in five years! His first show was in 2003. He's off playing Europe and I'm graduating High School (somehow I think I got the short end of the stick! haha). He really loves what he does and he's able to help inspire so many others. We talked about the remix competition, there'll be a winner soon! Jonas, as you all know, has barely had a day off in ages so it has just taken a bit longer than expected to announce the winner.
I think what really impresses me about him not only as an artist, but more importantly as a person, is he really listens. Some off hand remark might get picked up later and re-commented. He also really cares about his family. I mean who takes their little brother on a skiing trip to Italy?
Not only is Jonas talented musically, he was singing some of his friends material (which is still stuck in my head, talk about catchy!), but he's a jack-of-all trades. He built his home studio himself. Trust me, I saw the photos! Paint mask and all, and it came out impeccably. He said he also knows how to weld which I find remarkable. I'd be too afraid of burning something or setting it on fire!
It was eventually time for Jonas to go on so we all headed out towards the stage. I headed out front to the crowd to take some photos for the page (which will be up after my morning class and before I head to work Tuesday). The radio announcers bring him on but called him BasshunterS. If there is more than one hunter of the bass I'd love to meet them. Haha. Regardless of the radio "talent" having messed up Jonas came out onstage and did an amazing job. He sang "Now You're Gone" and it was flawless. The young girls in the crowd were singing and screaming and practically ripping their clothes off. Ok, so maybe Mom prevented them from doing that, but they were having an amazing time regardless! People all the way up on the lawn were going crazy and singing. The venue was huge and it was terrific to see so many people singing along! Always being the prankster Jonas thanked the crowd and let them know he had to go masturbate. Yes, Jonas is always the gentleman. At least there were no messy stains for the crowds to contend with, well... Maybe some from those little girls.
I was pretty shocked that he only performed one song, but come to find out later, only the bigger acts did more than that. BUT the guy who did "I like to move it move it" performed a SECOND time right when Jonas was leaving. I was ticked off to say the least. I guess someone dropped. Well kids were demanding Basshunter but did the radio execs listen? No. Evil radio. No wonder no one listens to you anymore.
I headed back to the backstage area and ran into Jonas and Olof. I love it when people want photos with their favorite performers, even if it's another performer themself! It's a really great memory to have and it makes the experience that much more special. Needless to say, lots of fans both male and female, wanted to snap a quick shot.
Outside it was back to talking and chain smoking. We talked about how he's planning a proper tour in the UK and how us kids in the US are going to get a full-blown tour as well! (If you ever need a personal assistant let me know, haha, I miss touring) Apparently crowds respond to different sayings in different countries and coming into a pretty un-tapped US Basshunter market he isn't quite sure what to expect. I have gotten so many emails from you guys about when he'll be coming over and I assure you it WILL happen! Booking a tour is a massive undertaking. There are concessions to be made and needs to be met.
Eventually it came time to say goodbye. It had been a terrific time getting to hang out with someone your age, not to mention a musician you really look up to, who has accomplished so much already and is still going to do leaps and bounds more. Jonas and Olof headed back up to New York City so they could fly out the next morning. Talk about a long flight! I just hope they had a good time over here. I know I did thanks so much in part to their generosity! Not many companies or artists would really be interested in getting to know the crazy accounting kid who decided one day in February to make a fan site, which has grown to over 10k hits a week, just to be able to have information in one place. I've met some great people doing this and I hope you fans too connect and realize that regardless of how far apart people live or how different their backgrounds, opinions, sizes, whatever, are able to come together over a common love of music.
There's so much more I want to add and I just don't know how to word it. We've got a lot of amazing things in store for all you guys! You will not be disappointed in the slightest! Check the other bulletin for the first contest!

BCM MALLORCA got fooled by a promoter that sold Basshunter, but it was not Basshunter. We are aware of this and in contact with BCM and will do a REAL Basshunter performance there in the very near future!!!!
Apprently tomorrow night, July 17th 2008 Basshunter will be playing in Clifton, NJ. It's on the venue's website along with the official tour dates on the basshunter.se website.
And strangely, I'm kinda mad about this. It wasn't up yesterday. And it's four hours from where I live. I get off work at 11pm and something tells me he won't be performing at three in the morning. Damn this sucks!

Woo! Thank god us US kids (and I am assuming Canada and Mexico) are getting the CD!!!
We may have had all of our tour dates cancelled, but we ARE getting the CD!
The US release date is August 5th. A month from now which sucks, but hey, it's what happens with international releases.
I'll try to make it up to you US kids with a special US-only competition! Since the UK has an ipod contest, I personally will buy an iPod and preload it with the album! (Ok, so it'll be a 1 gig shuffle, but I'm shelling out the 40$). I'll get the banners up this afternoon for the contest!
